Lawn Spreader

Lawn Spreader

Hi guys Cory here and today I'd like to talk about a lawn spreader. Sometimes it's more commonly known as a fertilizer spreader, but for today let's just call it a lawn spreader.
When you get right down to it there's basically two types of spreaders that can be used on your lawn.
Lawn Spreader
The first type is a rotary spreader.  This type of lawn spreader sprints the material by flinging it out sideways.  It typically has a spinner in the middle where the product drops down for a hopper well the spinner spinning causing the material to flying out.
This is a perfect lawn spreader for doing large lawn's. The width that it spreads the material is usually 8 to 10 feet. You have to be careful when using this type of fertilizer spreader so you don't overspread the product. By what I mean by that,  is that you don't wanna get the product off it's intended target.  This type of spreader does not work well for small areas.
Effective way to get excellent coverage with the rotary spreader is to double up on the application. But what I mean by this is if you want to go over the area two times and a half or eight defective way to get excellent coverage with the rotary spreader is to double up on the application. But what I mean by this, if you want to go over the area two times at a half rate.  You go at 90° angles with two applications will pop vied an awesome distribution of your product.

Lawn Spreader

The other type of spreader is a drop spreader.
The spreader is extremely accurate with the product amount that you put down.
A major drawback of this type of lawn spreader is the fact that it only spreads 24 to 36 inches wide depending on the model that you have.  So you could see if you have a large area to do you're going to be spending a lot of time walking back-and-forth.
The spreader is perfect for small in town lots.
It's extremely easy to make very app curate fertilizer applications with it perfect for the homeowner.
it's typically easier to push on the grass because the weight of the product that can hold his lesson to rotary spreader.
It seems to be a favorite of older DIY individuals.
No matter what type of lawn spreader you use maintenance is extremely important.
I highly recommend you wash your lawn spreader out after each use.
Most new type of spreaders are constructed of plastic. Plastic tends to be less corrosive than metal and will last longer.
However most of them still have some type of metal parts in them whether it be the spinner, possibly pins or washers or maybe even the shoot flow.
Fertilizer reeks havoc on metal products. No matter what type of launch where do you have if you don't not maintain it and wash it after each use it'll never last .
I'm a big fan of buying a commercial product and I would highly recommend visiting a local lawn repair shop. This way you will be getting a commercial product that will last a lifetime.

Lawn Dethatcher

Lawn Dethatcher

Hello everybody Cory here, today we would like to talk about a lawn dethatcher.  Talk about the definition of the thatching give me some tips on detaching what type of machines we can use for lawn dethatching and a bunch other useful information.

First off want to talk what is the deaf answering machine.  A lawn dethatcher is the machine that helps remove the thatch from your existing lawn.  Thatch is a layer of organic matter that builds up along the surface of the soil.
A thin layer of thatch is beneficial to your grass. It will tends to keep in moisture in the ground, so your roots of your lawn did not dry out quite as quick.   On the other side, too much of it can be a problem and cause disease and insect issues in your lawn.
The process of dethatching is removing some of this excess thatch so it allows your air and the fertilizer you put on to penetrate into the soil to benefit your lawn.  Now the process of the thatching is not hard while using a machine.
Most of the lawn dethatchers you can rent at a rental store or even at Home Depot rental. It is similar to running a push lawn mower.  Some of the dethatchers come with bagger attachment, to make cleanup easier. My experience these machines do not pick up any of the dead thatch that you're pulling out.

Lawn Dethatcher

I would just rent the regular lawn dethatcher and plan on raking your lawn when you're done.

The Dethatcher does a pretty good job of pulling up the dead organic material in your lawn. But as I said before you have to get that material up and haul off,  otherwise the thatch will wash right back down and you'll have excessive thatch again.
Different types of lawn can tolerate certain thicknesses of thatch.  Most lawn dethatcher the are adjustable. It's always a good idea to start high first you can always lower it as you go along. You'll notice on the thatcher it's tearing up not only the thatch, but some new grass comes out too.

If you feel it's pulling up to much good grass, raise the machine. That should help eliminate tearing up some of the desirable grass.

So it's  a good idea after you're done the thatching to fertilize and water it in to help speed up the recovery. Don't get me wrong the thatching is good for your grass however it will make a mess.
I would not recommend the thatching tines that you can attach to the lawn mower blades. They tend not to work and can be dangerous .  If don't feel like the thatching your lawn you can always hire a contractor to do it. Typically they charge around $100 for up to 8000 ft.².  Remember the cost of the thatching is minimal compared to disease or insect problems on your lawn.
Dispatcher versus core aeration.
You can reduce the amount of thatching your lawn with a core aerator. However it will not remove a significant amount  of that if that's what you're looking for.  Sometimes  A dethatching rake might be called a vertical rake or cutter. They're the same machine they just have different names.
